At Fern & Toile Bridal Alterations Studio, I offer a full range of bridal alterations to help your dress fit beautifully and feel completely yours. From essential adjustments like shaping the bust, waist or hips, refining straps and sleeves, or perfecting hems and bustles, through to more detailed work such as lace and bead alterations, support enhancements and fastenings — everything is handled with care and precision. If you’re looking for something more creative, I also offer redesigns and custom transformations, including adding sleeves, reshaping necklines, adjusting skirts or trains, or modernising a vintage gown. Whatever your dress needs, we can shape it to your style, your body, and your vision.
For most brides, two fittings are normally enough unless we’re making major changes, though it’s always best to allow for a possible extra appointment for final tweaks. Please bring the underwear, shapewear and shoes you’ll be wearing on the day, as these make a big difference to how your dress fits. I recommend booking your first fitting about 8 weeks before your wedding date (or departure date if you’re travelling). After this point, it’s helpful to keep your size consistent so the alterations remain accurate and the dress continues to fit as perfectly as intended. Each fitting usually takes around 45 minutes, and your dress will be ready and steamed approximately 2–3 weeks before your wedding
I’m also able to take care of the wider bridal party, including bridesmaids and mothers of the bride or groom. Their alterations don’t need to be completed as close to the wedding as the bride’s, so it’s best to schedule these earlier in the year, as the summer months are reserved primarily for bridal fittings. If you’re considering a custom-made outfit for the mother of the bride or groom, I can create this too — but because bespoke pieces require more time and careful planning, they’re best started well ahead of the wedding, ideally during the quieter winter season.
